About Us

I Had No Idea...

Whether you are considering traditional burial or cremation, funerals consist of three parts. Services/Merchandise/Out of Pocket expenses (see chart).  At the time of death, 125 things must be done immediately, adding to the stress of the situation. Categories to consider include: secure vital statistics, pay for some or all of the services and merchandise (up-front), collect required documents and permits, decide and arrange all the above within a few hours at both funeral home and cemetery locations. Pre-planning and pre-funding alleviate all of this (see videos under our resources page).

Which Way To Go

Up till now consumers have had three (non-funeral home) choices on how to pay or fund a funeral. There is final expense insurance, which provides funds for this event, but, there are pitfalls. Limited coverage, no control, and policies can lapse. Funeral pre-planning with a Burial or Cremation Society may seem like an attractive choice but merchandise is typically over inflated pricewise. Funeral Expense Trusts allow for specific amounts to be set aside, types of funerals to choose from, and no lapses (not to mention Medicaid friendly).

Buyer Beware (Mistakes)

  • Waiting until someone is in ill health
  •  A "Will" Is Not Enough
  • Decisions should not be based on Price alone
  • What's included and What's not
  • Don't try to shop over the phone or internet
  • Guarantees Are Important
  • Overlooking the Cemetery Charges
  • Underestimating the details
  • Considering the reputation of the firm
  • What happens after the funeral

Church vs. Funeral Home

Additional Information

Research Indicates that many families, especially Christian families, prefer the spiritual comfort of having a funeral, including the visitation viewing, at a church. They feel that a church setting was more appropriate and comforting at the time of death than a funeral home setting.

A funeral that is scheduled through ChurchFunerals Direct is a a traditional, complete, full service funeral just like the ones you're accustom to. It includes everything normally associated with a traditional funeral held at your local church. We are a preferred partner of ChurchFuneral Direct.
